The Sixth Form

Student

Caludon Castle’s large Sixth Form moved into its new suite of rooms in the heart of the school in January 2007. This provides a vibrant, exciting and stimulating place to study. Expectations are high and results are extremely good.  All our students have access to a wide range of courses which are personalised to suit each individual student's ability, needs and future aspirations. In addition to an extensive range of courses and enrichment activities, we offer a dedicated sixth form team who support, encourage and monitor student progress throughout the year. All we ask is a positive attitude and willingness to learn.

Our last OfSTED report included these comments: “A very good range of courses caters for the diversity of students’ needs”…”Good teaching from well-qualified, energetic teachers”...“Sixth formers feel that teachers challenge them, that they are accessible and help them to study independently”. Our Sixth Form was rated “Outstanding” by Ofsted in March 2008.

As well as AS and Level 2 courses, Caludon Castle offers all students in Year 12 a core programme of courses. This programme is designed to both enrich and extend academic studies and prepare students for life after the Sixth Form. The programme includes:

AS level in an Extended Research Project for all, offering study skills and supported independent research. COPE Level 3 is offered where appropriate.
Enrichment and Community Action: an enrichment placement helping in the community on a project of your choice. One Year Post 16 Course:  One Year Level 2 Programme is a combined course which is designed to offer students broad training and widen career pathways through many progression routes including student apprenticeship, BTEC First and other Level 2 qualifications.
